A heritage farm is a farm that has been owned by the same family for more than 200 years. The Laimer Farm lies on the outskirts of the village of Strobl by Lake Wolfgang. Cattle farming, horse breeding and forestry has been an integral part of life on this village farm for centuries. The steep woodland and rough mountain terrain meant that work on the farm was hard. The diligence, sharp wit and vision of our ancestors were the foundations of our success today.
The Laimer Alm had been used solely for agricultural purposes until the 1960s when the first ski lift was opened. This is when the Laimer Alm first opened its doors to paying guests and the first musical mountain hut events were organised.
As musicians and hosts “Die Laimer” have never lost sight of their roots but at the same time have always been open to new ideas and progress. Their love of music and tradition is as timeless and enduring as the mature wooden interior of these beautiful locations and these attributes are largely responsible for the Laimer Family’s success. This is how the Laimer Urschlag became what it is today and we are thankful and proud of our home’s history.
